Courtney's Current Crush List: January 2020 Edition

Posted by Courtney Frye on

It's hard to believe that we're already nearing the end of January 2020! Time - you have my permission to slow down!

The weather in NC has been all over the board. From sunny and 70's to bone-chilling 30's and every temperature in between. I've found myself diving in to books, which I like to do in the "slower" months. {Read my January book review here on two great reads this month!}

With the end of January drawing near, it's time for my monthly edition of Courtney's Current Crush List. Read on for the highlights of three things I'm digging this month!

Palm & Pine Candle Co.

I consider myself a candle connoisseur {aka candle snob} and I've bought my fair share of crappy candles. But allow me to introduce you to my new found favorite! Meet the creators behind Palm & Pine Candle Co., a local soy candle company with the cutest couple behind the brand!

If there was one thing I learned throughout 2019 for my own business, it's that people buy from people! When you get to know the men and women behind a business, you instantly become invested in them and their story. That's exactly what happened when I met Dalton and Karina of Palm & Pine.

Each candle is thought of and hand-crafted with an experience or a piece of their history in mind, from scent all the way down to the name. I purchased a glass tumbler of Cheekwood Gardens which boasts scents of Lily, Jasmine & Vanilla and is named for the the place where Dalton proposed to Karina. The candle is fragrant with a hint of floral and a crisp clean smell. Bonus: I can light it in one room and smell it in another! It definitely passed my candle test and I can't wait to try more! Please go follow them on Instagram so you can learn more about them and read the personal stories behind each creation! And if you're looking for that unique party favor or corporate gift, consider their travel tins! They'd make the perfect little take-away for any gift giving need. Note: their website is under construction so be sure to follow them on social media for updates!

Beautiful Thoughts - Postcard Set

I love to send snail mail, just as much if not more so than receiving it! And I really love to send postcards. Not the tacky "wish you were here" vacation spot postcards but encouraging, brighten-your-day ones. I love this boxed set that I picked up from The Flourish Market. It contains 60 postcards (2 of each design) with encouraging quotes from "writers, artists, thinkers, dreamers, doers and lovers of life." They come in this handy box and have tabbed dividers by occasion : appreciation, love, connection, and inspire, to name a few. Order them online from The Flourish Market, grab a set of postcard stamps and keep some handy in a desk drawer for when you know someone needs a little snail mail pick-me-up.

Nightfood: Nighttime Ice Cream

Nightfood reached out to me for partnering with them to review their ice cream and who am I to say no to a sweet treat created with late-night snackers in mind?!? Created by a team of doctors, sleep experts, and nutritional therapist, Nightfood ice cream has a lower sugar, fat and caloric profile with more protein and fiber because what you eat before bed matters! It does not contain any drugs or sleep aids and will not cure insomnia, but it will satisfy that late night sweet tooth without all the guilt!

 I tried the After Dinner Mint Chip because I'm a sucker for anything mint + chocolate, as well as Cookies N' Dreams! Both were delicious, refreshing and sweetly satisfying! I found mine at my neighborhood Harris Teeter for roughly $4.50 per pint. A serving is 1/2 cup and for anyone counting WW points, that's only 3 points per serving! See there 8 flavors here and find a local market near you that carries Nightfood! And be sure to visit their website to score your free pint!

*The above review was sponsored by Nightfood. I was reimbursed for my two pints of ice cream in exchange for social media marketing and a product review.*

Leave me a comment and tell me something you're currently crushing on! I always like to see and hear what others are interested in!

Until next time...
