My Top 7 Clean Beauty Faves

Posted by Courtney Frye on

I'm no beauty queen. As in I like to keep my morning routine quick and simple.

Over the last two  years, I've worked to literally clean up my beauty routine with fewer items that include fewer chemicals.

I've gathered up my top 7 daily beauty products for you so in no particular order and without further ado...

#1 Thayers Witch Hazel Facial Toner in Rose Petal

I've been using this every morning for the past 6-8 months and I  love it! 1) Because I adore all things rose water scented. 2) It contains aloe vera and kept my skin feeling hydrated all winter long. 3) I've had fewer breakouts and hormonal cystic acne as a result.

You can pick up a small trial size at your local Whole Foods market for $3.99 and it will last you several months. If you love it as much as I do, you're better off buying a bigger bottle from Target or Amazon for better bang for your buck.

#2 DoTerra HD Clear Facial Lotion

I've jumped on the essential oil bandwagon but I'll be the first to admit I do not use them on the regular. I do, however, use the DoTerra HD Clear Facial Lotion several times a week when my face feels a little dry. It's not oily, helps keep acne at bay and does not have an overpowering essential oil scent. A tiny pea-sized amount will cover your whole face making this last for at least 2 months or more.

#3 Monat Black 2-in-1 Shampoo + Conditioner

A friend of mine (who has ah-mazing hair, btw) is a rep for Monat. I'd heard of it over the years but wasn't really interested. However, after keeping up with her testimonies on Instagram, I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered two different shampoos but I've found that my hair responds better to the Monat Black 2-in-1 shampoo. With short hair, lift and volume is the name of my game and this shampoo does the trick. Again, a pea-sized amount is all you need BUT you do have to lather and rinse twice. The first lather is not super sudsy as it breaks down product build-up. The second lather is super sudsy and nurtures the scalp while boosting hair growth and follicle strength to reduce hair thinning.

It's not the cheapest shampoo, but it does last a good long while and it has really helped my hair look and feel healthier.

#4 Beautycounter Flawless in Five

I'm a make-up minimalist. I always have been and on days that I don't have to go into the office or impress anyone, I prefer to go au naturale.

A year and a half ago, I discovered Beautycounter as a safer skincare option. I was initially attracted to their Flawless in Five which gives you the makeup essentials to do your daily makeup routine in five minutes or less! SOLD! Bonus, their products are the safer beauty option as their mission is to source safer ingredients that aren't harmful to humans or the planet!

#5 Beautycounter Mattifying Powder

The one additional Beautycounter product I use that is not part of the Flawless in Five is their Mattifying Powder. Yes, it's white. But, it blends in to any skin completion. I use this after applying the tinted moisturizer from the above Flawless in Five.

#6 Schmidt's Rose + Vanilla Natural Deodorant

I went in search of a safer deodorant after all of the aluminum warnings, among many, that came out surrounding the antiperspirants we all grew up on. Since I'm a rose water girl, the scent of Schmidt's Rose + Vanilla Natural Deodorant had my name on it. I first bought it at Whole Foods but have also found it at Wal-Mart. And just the other day I scored one at TJ Maxx for half the price! It doesn't glide on quite as silky as my old Secret, but it's a small adjustment to get used to for a safer, healthier option.

#7 Rodan + Fields Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen

Not the cheapest sunscreen, but the good stuff never is! We've really come to like this R+F sunscreen. It doesn't bother us when it gets in our eyes and it has a really nice light fragrance. Do I still have bottles of the cheap stuff in my pool bag? Of course. But if we are going to be out for long hours in the sun, this is our go-to!

I'm not a rep for any of these brands, nor are any of these affiliate links. They are just simply some of my tried and true clean beauty go-tos. If you need a "dealer" for any of the above (like Monat, Beautycounter or R+F), I'm happy to share the contact information of my reps. Just message me at shopthepaintedpearl@gmail.com!

I'd also love to know what your favorite, clean, beauty favorites are! Drop me a comment below and let a girl know!
