When it comes to jewelry, we all have our go-to pieces. The simple stud earrings. The necklace we never take off. Maybe it's easier to stick with what we know rather than branch out with our accessories because, what if we aren't doing it right?!?
While there's no right or wrong way to accessorize, there are a few key principles to keep in mind and I'm sharing These 3 Things when it comes to accessory rules 👇🏼 ...
1) Choose one focal point. Maybe two. When you consider your focal pieces, consider the categories: earrings, necklace, bracelets, rings. Rule of thumb, choose one or the other if your earrings or necklace are your focal. Statement earrings and a chunky necklace will overpower your look in an unbalanced way. Instead, consider pairing statement earrings with a bracelet stack or a bold necklace with a cocktail ring.
2) Mind the neckline. A good rule of thumb is to leave a few inches between your necklace and the neckline of your top. Longer necklaces pair best with a simple, higher neckline while a bigger, bolder necklace pairs well with a v-neck or plunging neckline. The more skin you show, the bolder the necklace can be. But keep it classy!
3) Slay the Lay-er. Layering necklaces is still a trend and the daintier the better. Rule of thumb - may the odds be ever in your favor! Meaning, stick with 3 when layering, much like the image below. Play around with it and have fun! Accessorizing isn't meant to be a chore, or a bore! It's a fun way to express your own personal sense of style!
