I didn't set out to read a certain number of books in January. My goal was just to keep reading. Well, when I pick up a Colleen Hoover book, I'm guaranteed to finish it within 48 hours because they are that good! As it turns out, I read a total of four books in January, three of which were hers! ๐
I'm now on Good Reads and would love to be friends! Find me here so we can connect! ๐
Without further ado, here are my January Reads...
1) Godpretty in the Tobacco Fields by Kim Michele Richardson: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
This historical non-fictionย had a slow start and maintained that speed throughout the book resulting in only three stars from me.ย
Set in a small, rural, and poverty-stricken town in Kentucky in 1969, the story follows a teenage girl who finds herself living with her Uncle after both of her parents pass away. She and her uncle don't see eye to eye on anything so RubyLyn retreats to her uncles tobacco fields to work along side her neighbor and love interest, Rainey Ford. The tobacco field is where they can be themselves, friends, sometimes more than friends, in a town very much segregated by social class and race. Both are eager to escape the life they're destined to live but will they end up together or worlds apart?
2) Verity by Colleen Hoover โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
Not your typical Colleen Hoover book but one that has gained quite the buzz from it's twisted character and plot line that I finally caved and read it. It didn't disappoint even through it's a dark and twisted story lineย that you have to brace yourself for. It wasn't my fave CoHo book which is why I gave it only 4 stars but still worth the read if you can stomach it!ย
3) Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
Such a good, quick, typical CoHo read! It's a little Fifty Shades meets the After series from Netflix. (After, After we Collided, After we Fell) The main male character has that bad boy image we want to love so much, or more like we want him to love. But will he be able to overcomeย the ghosts that haunt him and move on with life with the one girl who loves him regardless of his troubled past?
4) Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
Whew - Colleen did not disappoint with her newest book that just hit shelves this month, her first book in over a year! I got a lot of Virgin River vibes from it in terms of some of the characters, one who owns a bar. It willย tug at your heart strings in a skinny minute as you anxiously turn the pages to see if Kenna will get what she wants - a chance to meet her daughter.ย
Happy reading, friends!
