Making 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔: Practical Budgeting Tips for the New Year

Happy New Year, friends! Buckle up because today I'm talking budgeting!  I spent the week between Christmas and New Years tallying up my year-end numbers as a way to measure growth and forecast the future. It's the one side of small business ownership that my creative brain loathes. And while 2021 was good to The Painted Pearl and this sweet small business life, I realized there were ways I could trim down business expenses and cut back on convenience foods for my family without making radical changes that would result in a retaliation from my Frye guys.  While I'm not a financial planner...

2021: Books I Read & Loved!

2021: Books I Read & Loved!

I set a goal back in 2020 to read 12 books. Doable, right?! Wrong. I failed. I don't remember how many I actually read but I definitely remember not hitting that 12 book mark. So I started 2021 with the same goal in hopes of actually reaching it. Turns out, I not only reached it, but surpassed it with a total of 24 books read in 2021! 24 BOOKS YOU GUYS!! And yet every time I sit down and get into my rhythm, alas, it's mealtime... again! Incase you were wondering, this is me, waving my white flag because I am... In our effort to do our part during these...

5 words that lit a fire in me last year...

Late last year during a monthly training... I was sitting at the end of my dining room table, thankful I had remembered to log on to a monthly live Q&A call with a group of fellow, like-minded female makers. I don't know 98% of the women on this call and the introvert in me wanted to stay quiet and let others do the asking. But before I knew it, I was jumping in, hand held high (aka taking myself off of mute) and while I don't even remotely remember the question I asked, her response will forever stay with me.  "I'm sensing serious...
